Sorry, I'm out...

Hey boys, sorry, but I'm out for tonight. Feel free to do whatever and I'll catch up. Also, this is just an idea... what about a hiatus for the next few weeks?

There's a lot going on (for everyone) and so I was wondering what you all thought about taking a break for about a month and then getting back into it about half way through January - either with Call of Duty or with Guild Wars (or a combination of the 2).

So, let me know what you think. I think it might revive us all a bit and get us back into it, plus I know Caine and I are out for at least 2 Mondays in January anyway (Youth Camp and District Assembly).

I'd suggest we come back on the 12th or 19th January. Thoughts?

Things to do list...

Next week I think we should hit the Borlis Pass. Ian, is there anything you have vanquished that we could do without you?

Who's with me!?

Gamespot CoD:WaW Review

If, however, you are hoping for an exciting campaign, fun cooperative play, and engaging multiplayer action, then you'll find a lot to be happy about in World at War.

they give it an 8.5 which is great
the full review is here

I'm particualrly excited about perks.
you can equip 4 at once (1 which is vehicle specific). These wil help us defien our styles. They range from one that helps you swim faster, to one that lets you climb trees and one which i'm sure i'll use often called "play dead"

The weapons list it also extensive - you can see perks and weapons here

What's in a name...

Think of what your online name will be for Call of Duty. Think now!

Sorry guys, I got it wrong...

Hey guys, I know we've been discussing the new game, but I got it wrong. I thought you guys were talking about the new game put out by NTC, "Call of Judy". Its a real-time strategy game where you play as Judy Giesken, living at NTC, taking care of 4 boys and being the wife of a lecturer, while taking on the tough quests and scenarios that come your way...

* Will you go to chapel this week?

* Can you just drive past the office or do you have to go in and have a chat with Jess?

* Should you help out at the college working bee?

* If you hit a wallaby coming home one night, drunk and don't tell anyone, what happens?

Call of Judy - Can you handle it???

Tuesday's Gone

Just confirming that we are Monday bandits from now on. Also, I felt someone needed to post something new as the cool factor of those bees was starting to wear out.

Anyone got some cool games ideas other than GW?

Are you keen to keep doing missions in hard mode?

Copland... please come to Sydney! 1 night only, catch up with some old friends, meet new interesting people, say goodbye to Kiel who's going to London in January... Whaddaya say???

PS name the band (from the post title... and the Adam Sandler movie it is in)

Friday 24 October 2008

the other end of the spectrum

whilst a first person shooter would work
i found an MMORTS (Real Time Strategy) that looks interesting.
its called Saga, and here's the intro site

what are we looking for anyway?

so...
the question is... what is the criteria that will meet our desires for a new game

my thoughts are
  • meets all our system requirements
  • can play together (with each other) or cooperatively
  • no monthly fees

i'm happy to go for a fps, because the options are so limitted
there's a wiki article here on all known co-op games... the list of pc ones with 4 or more players is not long...

can we all do this?

* CPU: AMD 64 3200+ / Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz +
* Memory: 512MB (XP) or 1GB (Vista)
* HD Space: 8GB
* Graphical Card: Nvidia 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or higher (Shader 3.0 or better) with 256MB memory

A review for Space Siege - hmm...

Oh, Caine and Mick, just so you know - Ian and I were talking about this as a possibility for our next game.

New game!

Ok... so I reckon we think about a new game for Tuesday nights. I think that we should still give some time to GW but to break it up a bit and to help with the wait of GW2 a new game could be fun.

Now comes the tough part! What sort of new game?

Personally I'd like to try something really different, so not another fantasy MMORPG. But I think we should still be bale to play as a team and able to do our 'own thing' a bit - like professions or whatever.

So, have a think and submit what you'd like to consider. Let's try and have a few ideas kicking around for this Tuesday night. See you then!

Spiteful Spirit Necromancer: Option 2 - now with mesmery goodness

A basic SS build, with added interupts and empathy create another useful damage dealing utility

Curses 12 + 3 + 1
Soul Reaping 8 + 1
Domination Magic 10

1 Spiteful Spirit
2 Barbs
3 Mark of Pain
4 Signet of Lost Souls
5 Empathy
every time they attack something they take 40 damage
6 Power Leak
interrupt a spell and they lose 12 energy
7 Power Spike
interrupt a spell and they take 90 damage
8 Cry of Frustration
interrupt any skill and cause 33 AoE damage

I dig this build because it draws from the usefulness of heroes at interrupting. They do it with ease.

Spiteful Spirit Necromancer: Option 1 - True Necro

Here's a classic SS build. I will post up another one that I like when I get a chance.

Curses 12 + 3 + 1
Soul Reaping 12+ 1

1 Spiteful Spirit
The ducks nuts! A ripper of a curse basically
2 Barbs
Add extra damage to anything that's hit with physical damage
3 Mark of Pain
Like Barbs, but only adds to nearby foes not target - copland and I took out about 25 Etin one day with this bad boy!!
4 Defile Defenses
Great for a hero to use, they see someone has a blocking stance, and then BANG! 126 damage. Block this!
5 Rip Enchantment
I'll have that enchantment thankyou very much... oh and here's some bleeding for your effort
6 Foul Feast
Help out with condition removal
7 Signet of Lost Souls
Energy management
8 Rez

just a ripper of a build basically

Smite as well have the best

In the grand trinity of monks i have dunkora set up as a healer, tallyorka set up as a protector and ogden stonehealer set up as a smiter. I have 2 builds saved for him, but am about to list one that is listed as "good" on pvx. Its listed as being good for party support as well as damage.
here goes...

Smiting 12 + 3 +1
Divine Favor 12 + 1
Protection prayers 3 (could plus one if you can be bothered)
1 - ELITE Defender's Zeal
for great energy management - really energy deprival is a monks worst enemy
2 - Smiter's Boon
Get a bonus from divine favour
3 - Smite Hex
Hex removal with damage to nearby foes... and... the divine favor bonus is helpful!
4 - Smite Condition
As above but for conditions, adding to the supporty goodness
5 - Reversal of Damage
the smiting monks bread and butter... kinda like a protection spell, but gives the damage back to where it came from.
6 - Castigation Signet
Bit of damage, bit more energy management.
7 - Divine Boon
This is a great enchantment, can be a bit energy draining though... but 1 and 6 counter that.
8 - Rebirth
A hard rez... and the only reason i have points in protection

I reckon we should try using 2 of these guys and one healer. Could be an interesting change...
Or... try a normal healer, a smiter and a ritualist? (or even a paragon)
or scrap the normal healer all together and go rt, p and smiter???

the other variant i have loaded is the same build with a Ritualist secondary. Dropping 6 and 7 and replacing them with ancestor's rage and splinter weapon (so its a little more aggressive).

my standard minion master build

N/Mo
Death Magic 12 + 3 + 1
Soul Reaping 8 + 1
Healing Prayers 10

1 - Animate Flesh Golem
The big boy of the minion world - only alowed one at a time though (per MM)
2 - Animate Shambling Horror
A minion that creates another minion when it dies - the second causing bleeding
3 - Animate Bone Fiend
A lower recharge time than shambling as well as the added benefit of a ranged attack.
4 - Deathly Swarm
Basically... helps a MM to not be totally useless without minions. There will be times when you die or whatever that you dont have any, so I think this is a must (now... its only after a few times round of useless necro that i added it)
5 - Vereta's Gaze
When you die, get rezed use this to get lost minions back
6 - Blood of the Master
A heal specifically for minions
7 - Heal Area
Another heal, not to be used when badies are around. I've never had problems with the AI on this one though.
8 - Rez

The only other skills I'd add would be Vereta's Sacrifice - another very power heal, some say 3 is overkill... But... if you have problems dieing lots, add Taste of Death - a good heal for yourself, i'd bump out vereta's gaze (actually, i think i might do that now...)

woe woe water magic... whoah!

After reading a recent post of copland's suggested that water magic was the ugly cousin who had to sit in the corner of the elements, i thought i defend it, and promote it.

I'm sure we've all had our moments when skills like deep freeze or maelstrom have caused us grief. Both being non elite, i think they make up a great 2 skills to whack in the skill bar of any hydromancer. problem... they both take up 25 energy, so both could be a problem...

Whilst attack is reasonably strong (with elite skills like mind freeze or water trident), I would suggest investing in a balance, with defence being as strong in water as earth (possibly).

Individual armor skills like frigid armor, armor of frost and armor of mist are a real plus. I would include 2 of these in my hydro build (probably) as well as the beautiful ward - ward against harm (and other jag characters?). Ward against harm is arguably the strongest ward in the game, the problem being is that its the only ward hydros have access to. The rest live in geo-town.

So... for a build?
I would go for
armor of frost
armor of mist
ward against harm (elite)
ice spear
maelstrom
deep freeze
water attunement
rez

the only variant i would think about is... adding blurred vision (to add to team defence by blinding foes) and getting rid of one of the armor spells (if you are staying alive really easily) or dropping maelstrom or deep freeze if you have energy probs. I'd probably drop maelstrom and not deep freeze, but... you pays your money you makes your choice...

I'd go for a superior rune of water magic (so... 12 + 3 + 1)
and a minor energy storage (12 + 1)
and if you want to go all out and add 5 radiant insignias (for 8 extra energy)

i currently have something very close to this on my sousuke.

The Classics

Trying to get a list of the classic builds that are out there. The ones when people say: "Looking for MM for mission" everyone knows what they're talking about. Feel free to just edit this post and add your name and the ones you can remember. These are just off the top of my head. Make sure they are "classic" builds though please....

Copland:
Healing Monk
Protection Monk
Barrage/Pet Ranger
Fire Ele
Earth Ele
Air Ele
Water Ele (anyone ever use these guys?!?) see Ian's thoughts here
Minion Master Necro here
Spiteful Spirit Necro here's a necro only one. here's one with mesmer interupts added
Smiting Monk here
Trapping Ranger

Eye of the North comes to an end

So, I guess this Tuesday we will finish the Eye of the North campaign.

It seems like ages a go that we actually got the new GW:EN expansion, but not that long ago since we started playing it. Looking forward to wrapping it up...

But I guess there's still heaps to do in Eye of the North, like finishing off those titles and getting the 2 new heroes.

So, does anyone have any suggestions for what they would like to do? I think we're probably going to help Ian to get his Kind of a Big Deal title, but then what?

Catch you all tomorrow night!!

Friday 3 October 2008

I'm Kind Of A Big Deal!

This is the title I've been gunning for!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped out with hunting the last few elite skills. Now I don't need to rely on my explorer title to feel like a Big Man around Tyria.

Thursday 25 September 2008

asuran scan and why you need it

as i mentioned in a previous comment, i received 6 skills today.
one of them is asuran scan
it will add a percentage onto every attack you do on target foe. Particularly useful for warriors i imagine

who has a spare 30 or 40 hours this weekend

cause of this
double rep points in EotN titles!!!!

progress and our last EotN mission

i'm pretty sure i can speak for us all when i say i'm happy with last night.
good effort in general i think.

a time for heroes is the last mission we have to face before we finish EotN.
It might be an idea to read up on it before we go in next week.
I'm going to try and get the asura skill pain inverter which will help significantly. If any of you guys can get it too it might help.

I'm thinking the best team build would be
Me: same build i used last night with pain inverter added and my standard spell interupt replaced with a skill interupt.. or a SS build with barbs?
Mick: Interupt crazy
Mick's Dunk:Light of Deliverance / Heal Party Build with condition removal
My Dunk: pretty much the same
My Vekk: Earth Ele with Ward of Stability to counter knock downs.
One of my Ritualists - with recuperation and recovery, and probably a couple of attacking spirits
Caine and Copland... whatever you guys think - if you can bring (ele) frigid armor it will help with the burning. Maybe some interupts will help too... and if you can get pain inverter, it will help

hope this isnt too heavy.
if this doesnt work we might need more damage but we can try that if we fail - wiki is suggesting air spikers, my zhed would work there
sorry i'm listing all my heros, it just works fairly well to have casters in the back line

if we go well at this, then maybe we could go straight into the hard mode version???

Saturday 20 September 2008

igneous summoning stone

/bonus on any character and you will recieve an igneous summoning stone.
it can only be used by characters under level 20.
it will summon a level (whatever you are) fire imp, that wont be a hero, but will apear as an ally
once you use the stone, it takes 1 hour to recharge.
the imp lasts for an hour UNLESS IT DIES - then you have to wait for the rest of the recharge time to get it again.
If you're about to level up, its best to wait to summon him, so you get a stronger imp
the full wiki article on this creature can be found here

New Hero!

Looking forward to tonight...

Good times!

Friday Night!

Well, its been ages since I put in some really serious GW time outside of Tuesday nights, so tonight I am going to be setting aside a few hours to get The Stamp a bit further along in EOTN. I'm hopeing to do the following...
* rack up some Norn/Asura points
* open up some more map
* bank some gold with the possibility of buying elite armor

Feel free to join me!

Sunday 7 September 2008

No Caine this week?

Hey!

So I was thinking this week we could do some clearing up and knock over some things we have outstanding from the other 3 campaigns, or whatever. Maybe some skill caps that need some help or whatever.

Things are getting a bit tough and if we get too far ahead Caine might have a hard time catching up on his own (I know I would). Anyway, let me know. I have a board meeting so I might be on a bit later than usual, but I would hope to be on between 9 and 9:30 SA time.

That's Gold!

So, I was watching Good Game last night. In their 'Gamer News' section they did a bit about "gold farming" and its increased prevelance in games like ours. I found the following article on a game site...

Our friends at Manchester University have published another study looking at developing nations where the poor earn money by gold farming or powerlevelling in MMOs. The estimate is half a million people do the work for pay, a supermajority of them in China. Of the online toilers, 400,000 are involved in gold farming, the rest powerlevelling and other services.

The study's author admits that precise estimates are not possible because of the underground nature of the activity. But it's at least a $500 million global industry as of now, with organized crime snaking its tendrils into the business.

The growth is entirely predictable and not really a new phenomenon, when you think about it. "When you get people with more money than time and time than money the two will find a way to meet," said Stephen Davis, of game security firm Secure Play. Quoted for truth.

The paradox of the character slot.

I was thinking about character slots this morning.

Its a bit of a funny thing really. In a way I could pretty much get away with just one character slot - The Stamp. It seems to me that this is the way most people probably play anyway... they have one main character.

If the other slots are used its generally because we got bored, or wanted to try something different. But I reckon if I added up ALL the time I had spent with my other characters it would still be less than the time I spent with The Stamp.

Don't get me wrong, I apprecaite the other character slots, and I think currently they are all full. But in a way its a bit like the last half of the block of choclate, really I'm just eating it 'cause its there.

So, what about you guys? Could you get away with just one character slot? Or what about if you had half? Only 4 slots, who would you keep, who would you kick? Have you ever deleted a character that was over level 12... or level 20???

acolyte sousuke -water ele - with wardd against harm, and a few staple water skills

Devona (Fighter)
Lina (Protection)
Mhenlo (Healer)

computer problems

so... my computer is a bit of a disaster at the moment... it comes up with a message every now and then saying that the video card isnt working, and worse than that, will only boot when i have my windows disc in. After reloading windows, its still not fixed... so i'm going to have to go without it for a while.

my plan??
i'll try to get thru this week, and then take it back in, cause i'm away at SU state conference next week - i doubt that they'll fix it in less than 2 weeks (big waiting list) but hopefully get it done ASAP.
we'll see

so whats the go for tomorrow night?

The test of time

Wow!!
After 18 months and now 300 posts our guild is still going strong. I was flicking through some old posts today - particularly looking at our (H) menus - and how we were going with titles - last september. We've all plodded along nicely from there, thats for sure...

I have bought a domain name for www.noobzwithattitude.com and well, i can move all of this over if we want to go that way. If not, I've wasted $8 and wont renew it next year. One of the things i can do is clean up the categories and create some tags - so a post like my last one would be under the category "Title's" and maybe have tags like Lightbringer, farming, Xyla Nu... or whatever... So you have 2 ways of searching the blog. We can also add other pages whenever we like, and have other stuff on there too...

I dont have stacks of time right now, but reckon it could be somehing i could pull together over the next few months...

anyways, congrats Noobz - 300 posts!

WOOO!!

I think I'm brainfried from all those farming runs, but here it is!

Is everybody happy?!?!

Hey, just wondering how everyone else is going with EOTN?

Not sure if Tuesday nights have the same vibe as they used to, and I was just wondering if everyone is cool with what we are doing? Maybe its just because some everyone is at different points on the EOTN storyline. Anyway, I was just wondering if everyone is down with what we've been doing and will continue to be doing.

If you are looking for some inspiration, maybe you should check out the Master of the North title info, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Master_of_the_north. This is the ulitmate title in my opinion and something I will be working on.

Anyway, catch you guys tonight...

Arrrgh!

I was capping some skills when I came across this unusual name. Then I realised it's pretty clever. Shiver me timbers, and so forth.

Where to now?

Hi guys, just wanted to get your opinion on something. I'm not sure where to focus on with GW. I' d love to get the kind of a big deal title and I guess the quickest way (not that it is quick at all) is through skill capping. But when that gets boring, what then? Explore other characters and builds? What do you think?

Another 2 for the Road

Hi Peeps,
Finally I have achieved it, still more to go but i am glad i have made it.

Here it is, thankyou for your loans i am already on the mission to pay you back.

Monday 30 June 2008

a whole lot of nothing

they just released an faq for gw2
pretty much nothing new there though

i'm guessing it wont come out til 2010 from what they are saying there.
there's a real culture in the gaming world of releasing games that are perfect. For example spore (which i might be checking out) was originally scheduled for a 2007 release isnt coming out til this september - it happens all the time...
so the question is... do we keep going with titles, assume they are going to add content, or find another game to play for a year??? i'd be happy to stick to gw... there's still alot of vanquishing to be done!!!

Friday 27 June 2008

don't mess with the dragon!

next weekend (to coincide with july 4) there is a little event known as the dragon festival
if i can i will be rollerbeetle racing a yelling victory chants over copland at midnight whilst waking up my whole house again.
woo! i'm gonna be away for most of it, but we'll see

Monday 23 June 2008

I of the North

Well, this weekend I began my assult on the Eye of the North campaign.

Man, I was so impressed by the story they use to get you there. The who crevase thing and then running through the tunnels with Ogden and Vekk. It was really good. Generally I find the cinimatics a bit crap and really only watch them for the storyline, but the switch to EOTN was great. I was actaully a little nervous with those red dots coming up behind us as we ran through the tunnels.

Anyway, I have the primary quest Against the Destroyers ready to go and have the Asura, Norn and Vanguard sub-quests as well.

For tomorrow night I would like to continue along with the EOTN storyline and also head back into Nightfall to get Razah.

Sunday 22 June 2008

You're All Alone!

Just letting you know I wont be on this Tuesday as I will be at the State Girls Football carnival at Penrith all week. You guys are just going to help each other mop up anyway I think. What is the plan for attacking EOTN? Do we all start from whoever has done the least (Copland?) so we can catch up to each other? Or are you too far advanced Ian? And if so, could you use a different character until we catch up to Xyla?

What do you reckon?

Saturday 21 June 2008

not too boring

so tonight i had a crack at asura point farming in eotn, to make the most of the double point weekend.
in about an hour i went from just over 10,000 asura points to just over 20,000! I'm now "not too boring" which is level 4 on the title track.
I'm kicking myself for 2 reasons - 1 i wish i had finished eotn so i could have done it in hard mode and 2... i wish i had a whole wekend to max out titles.
oh well they might do it again in 3 months or something... we'll see

in short... try and get on before monday afternoon. go crazy - check wiki it has recomended areas that are easier.

Wednesday 18 June 2008

Reputation... its everything

yo... yall

check this out
this weekend we can earn double points in norn, asura, deldrimor and ebon vanguard.
i think this is a nice way to gently sneak into EotN. Can probably open a bit of the map too...

not to tell you how to play the game copland, but... the norn would probably be the most useful for you. a higher rank in this will increase effectiveness of norn skills, which are all pretty good for warriors.

i cant do saturday night, but could do a couple of hours late on friday... i hope we can get in then - i could maybe do sunday night though... we'll see
when can you all do, and is it cool?

Tuesday 17 June 2008

How did you go?

How did you guys go last night?
Are we up again for tonight? i dont have headphones but my laptop has a mic and i can plug in osme headphones to stop echo etc.
let me know...sorry it was a shocking night last night

Monday 16 June 2008

An idea...

I was talking with Ian today and we mentioned what we would do once the guild finished Factions.

As you know, I plan on moving onto Eye of the North, but before that I was wondering if you guys had anything else you wanted to do?

Ian and I talked about setting aside one or two Tuesday nights to do some 'cleaning up'. For example, I think Mick only has a couple of missions until he's finished with Nighfall. Maybe we could all get on and help with that, or skill caps or whatever?

The idea is to spend our 'guild time' just finishing off those little things that are preventing us from getting titles or items we have been working on.

Anyway, its just an idea, so if you're up for it I am happy to spend a couple of weeks 'cleaning up' before we (either individually or as a guild ) move onto EOTN.

One of the things I thought about doing was the final mission in Prophecies again. Since the 3rd birthday repeating this mission gives you the choice of a new green item.

If you want to do this cleaning up stuff just post a yes, and also the name of the mission/skill/title you want to work on. See you guys in Cantha!

trap em and blast em... apparently

this is a post for mick primarily... but i think we can all get to this point eventually - does everyone in our guild have a level 20 ranger?

i stumbled across this team build that is a good way to farm balthazar
there also many trapping farming builds on PvX that may interest you - you just have to use em in the right spot really

Inconceivable!

If I was a warrior I'd like to have this skill, for sentimental value at least.

My bad

Once again, sorry for Tuesday night. I just didn't have my head screwed on. Hopefully next Tuesday will be better, unless you guys want to start nominating days to have a crack before then? Thursday night anyone? Maybe next Monday?

What do you think?

Tuesday 10 June 2008

Just checking in...

Hey Boys,

So, I have 9,500 Luxon Faction points so far. Hope that's cool.

Tonight I have a board meeting and should be on around 9-9:15 SA time. Not sure when Ian will be on though.

Anyway, as soon as I get on I'll knock over those 500 faction points I need and then I'll be ready to roll. For what I understand the quest we have to do is called "Stolen Eggs" and this should open up Gyala Hatchery.

Catch you guys tonight!!

Sunday 8 June 2008

oath shot spirit spammer

mick check this out
copland and i were talking the other night about ways to possibly make us a tighter team. we both think we're doing pretty well, but i discovered this build that could turn you into a much more supporting role, and change the dynamics. anyways, if you're interested

so... i've...

because i'm going to be late this week, i have done 2 things tonight.
1 - got to 10,00 faction
2 - completed the quest stolen eggs - so i'm at the hatchery and ready to go... see you guys there.

he aint heavy... he's my brother in-law

will be on pretty late this week due to going out for teale's birthday.
sorry.
call when i know

Luxon faction update

so... this is mainly for caine, but i'm putting it up here anyways.

spoke to mick yesterday, who let me know he was up around the 5,000 mark in Luxon now, and that we should all do a little farming to try and get somewhere near there also.

Last night Copland and I decided to just go straight up and down and kill some stuff. We did this in the form on Hard mode and vanquished the archipelagos. in hard mode we received 10 faction per kill, so i'm at about 3.5k and copland is close to mick now.

so... in short. if we can all find time (maybe?), to do some farming of sorts (or quests) before tuesday, then we can go straight thru the quests and hit gyala hatchery.

i really dont know if i'll get on again before tuesday - just been busy. but we can try. there's always eternal grove, my vizunah square, or more faction farming... yeah?

Friday 6 June 2008

Fast faction farming

It's double faction this weekend for competitive missions. I got on last night and farmed a bit of Luxon just by killing and doing quests. I'll try to get to 10 000 without doing any primary quests. If you guys can try to do the same, maybe we can be ready to finally finish factions this Tuesday.

A good quest for farming is Charting the Jade Sea (in Kaineng City quests). Make sure you pay the priest for the faction bonus. Do little quests within the map areas, kill lots of monsters and the faction points will come easily.

Who's with me?

Tuesday 3 June 2008

ch ch ch ch ch ch changes

hey all...
i'm meeting up with a mate of mine next week and one of the things he's going to do is help me set up some sites that are much more customisable - with their own domain names etc.
so... if we wanted we could have a funky ass website and possibly even be www.noobswithattitude.com ??? not sure...
wouldnt be much more effort on you part - new log in, and maybe just getting used ot a slightly different input method...

let me know what you think

armor suggestions

heres my suggestions for elite armor for you guys. I'm keen to help you all get some if you're keen. can probably chip in some bucks too.

mick - maisa trueshot
either
ancient (from nightfall)asuran (eye of the north - level 5 asura title needed)caine - zahran gammel
norn - (eye of the north - level 5 norn title needed)
primeval - (nightfall)copland - the stamp
silver eagle (eye of the north - level 5 deldrimor needed)or elite sunspear (nightfall)
there are some cool factions ones too, but i liked these. the prophecies ones are funny with their insignias and stuff - note sure, but have a look anyways

Response to Ian's hero post

You should probably read Ian's post under this one for this to make any sense...

I noticed you don't have a Spiteful Spirit necro build.

Is that becuase they are the same as fire eles (all over the place) or is Spiteful Spirit covered in your 'curses' build?

Just wondering.

I like the idea. I really want to get in and clean my builds up. I have saved builds that I never use, and some that don't even have elites in them from when I just started. I'd like to have a few basic warrior builds (at least 2 for each weapon set, plus 2 non-specific builds). Added to this I'd like to have each of my heroes set up with their 'thing'... if you get me. So Dunkoro is my healer, and Tahlkora is my protection, Olias is Spiteful Spirit and Master of Whispers is Minion Master. Sort of like what you are doing but on a smaller scale. Maybe I will work on it a bit tonight while we are stuffing around.

Wow... long comment. I should have just made it a post...

Monday 26 May 2008

hero update

so... i now have all 25 heroes (yay!)
i'm on a bit of a mission to create 1 or 2 (or more) builds for each of them - with runes etc.

tonight i completed
monks
dunkoro - healing
tahlkora - protection
ogden - smiter

eles
sousuke - water
zhed - air
vekk - earth

and
necros
master - curses
olias - healing
livia - minion master

notes...
i may give olias a blood magic superior rune for a couple more options?
i chose not to have a fire ele for several reasons - 1 - you all have good fire eles. 2 - i can basically be a fire ele. 3 - the henchie is decent, 4 - you can always find a fire ele, the others are a little more elusive at times.

9 down 16 to go

the trouble with vanquishing

had a bit of a crack at vanquishing tonight...
just out of the blue you find yourself dying 3 times, and over an hours work - gone!
i racked up about 120 kills - needed around 200. oh well...

i did manage to get my lightbringer total up to 39,996 (so close to 4/5ths of the way there) as well as score 3 sweet gold items.

i think i'm going to get my hands on some of these bad boys - powerstone of courage - removes all death penalty and 10% morale (or moral) boost for whole party. i'm sure i would have finished off this area with one.

Sunday 25 May 2008

On behalf of Mick...

Had a bit of a chat with Mick the other day. He and Sam have settled in ok, but the house has a dodgy phone connection and it will take a bit before he is online (at least 2 weeks by the sounds of it). If we go ahead I think Mick might have a hard time catching up...so we need to talk about what we want to do for a couple of weeks, maybe even a bit longer.

I have a Dervish (The Assett) who is at level 8 and I would love to put some work in getting him up to speed. And there's always Sunspear/Lightbringer farming.

My concern is that we don't just bum around for what could be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. So have a think about it and let's do SOMETHING.

Catch you on Tuesday night (not you, Mick... obviously).

Saturday 24 May 2008

new armor for razah

i decided razah was next - man he looks funky

and in front of his monument

Friday 23 May 2008

Last Tuesday Night

Just in case anyone was wondering, here's what Caine and I got up to on Tuesday night...

We continued with our Canthan mission, and devoted our time to the Raisu Palace mission. We had three goes at it, failing the first 2 (only just though) once getting wiped because we aggroed too many guys at once and once because Mhenlo died (idiot!).

The third time we did well and got through, however we were a minute and a half short of the Master's reward... dar!

So, this week, if you guys are back on, that would probably be a good place to start. And from there, according to my calculations, we will have 5 missions to go to complete the Factions campaign. Yay!

Catch you guys on Tuesday night!

random tip from ian

i'm predicting that there will be a major announcement in guild wars in the next month
what? i do not know... i just think somethings about to pop up
maybe more content (another expansion), maybe something gw2, maybe another sorrows sorta area, maybe more extra missions...
who knows?
we'll see

United Aussie Warriors

Hey, in case anyone is interested, there was another Aussie guild put up for Guild of the Week recently. The site is here...

Eye of the Liger

The Stamp's pet, "Liger", has made it to level 20. We are all very proud of him. Thanks must go to Sunspear/Lightbringer farming. Whne it comes to levelling up a pet, its the best way to go, in my opinion.

Friday 9 May 2008

sorrow's furnace

well that's a blast from the past?

Upon discovering that certain "elite" missions, gave you credit in your hall of monunents, i began to rethink my priorities. OK, basically, there are lots more now.

One of the things I would like to do is complete some of the elite missions - namely sorrow's furnace (to sorrow's furnace) as well as malyx in nightfall and the EotN ones (and maybe factions too, but i hear they are insane)

anyways, something to think about. I completed the first of the 4 objects in sorrows furnace tonight - its a fed-ex quest. But the last 2 are mental apparently. Anyways, something to look at in the future maybe.

hero armor

hey all...
i feel like pretty much everything i do comes down to one thing - the Hall of Monuments.
My latest edition occurred tonight, when I upgraded Sousuke's armor.
Here he is, standing in front of the monument, with him in itI'm not sure what I'm most impressed with - the brown vest, the 3 quarter pants or the socks and sandals!

Anyone else interested in getting this??

Let me know... soon.

selling shadows apparently

one of the titles im trying for - i still need over 100,00 points in this one, so i wouldnt go counting chickens. i can buy the amror i want now though - just need the gold.

Monday 28 April 2008

Next title attempt

Well, I spent some of the Birthday weekend working on my Sunspear and Lightbringer titles. I am now a Conquering Lightbringer and a Spearmarshal. The Sunspear one is the one I'm most interested in, I guess. Spearmarshal is 15,000 sunspear points (I am on 15,001 or something, just scraping over the line). The next title is 50,000 and at that point the title is maxed out - Legendary Spearmarshal. So currently I am less than half way, or to put a positive spin on it...only one step away. Annoyingly, that step requires a further 35,000 sunspear points. Oh well... here we go!!

some thoughts on mesmer hero builds

sometimes you find a great build, but don't have the skills for it. so... if you don't have all these skills either dont both with it, or try hero skills trainers, see what you can come up with etc...
who knows...

the thing with mesmers is that they can do a bunch of things well - including sucking the energy out of a team, shutting down casters with interupts, shutting down melee among other things.
Heres a few links to builds i found that would be worth trying on norgu and/or gwen.

this first one is a power block interrupter build. its meant to shut down casters and well - it'll do a fantastic job at that. If you're doing the standard Ctrl + space to target whatever your hitting, you'll have problems against warriors, dervishes, assasins, rangers and even some ritualists. Most of these interrupts work on chants, so they will shut down paragons. If you're in a team with others of us (or PUGS) and want to ignore targets and chase the casters, this will work - or - if you're trying to shut down a caster boss this will work. Other than that I'd steer clear of this one.

this one is one of many MoR (or Mantra of Recovery) builds - MoR helps your skills recharge quicker - so you can spam them (basically) . This one has an interrupt focus, but its not all it does - i quite like the mix here really. 2 spell interrupts, 1 general interrupt (will interrupt anything) then empathy which is a good skills to use on warriors etc, remove hex, drain enchantment and a res. What I like about this build on a hero is that it can do many different things at once - which would generally be too much for a human player (or me) to wrap their head around - i can handle melee shutdown and interrupts, but not anti-hex, anti-enchantment too. So, give this one a burl methinx.

here's another MoR build. This one focuses more on melee with 2 handy interrupts. I'd give it a monk secondary, replace res sig with a hard res and put remove hex in the optional slot.

here's the ineptitude spammer i've been using lately. great for just messing with warriors etc. I'd think about adding another interupt or enchantment removal or hex removal.

one last one is here - a little more balanced - i know i couldn't use this, but i think its a decent balanced option for a hero. its interesting, thats for sure.

if you have the skills, i'd try number 2 or 3. 5 could be interesting. 1 and 4 are more specific (1 - caster. 4 - melee). If you want to tell your heroes what to attack, try them

hope this has been helpful.

what i'm really looking forward to...

I've been thinking through a list of a heap of things I want to do...
finish nightfall protector title (2 to go)
finish factions protector title ( i think i have 7 to go?)
max my LB title (im half way there)
get new armor - inspiration - elite - to go in my hall of monuments
get a destroyer weapon - to go in my hall of monuments
but really - i'm looking forward to all 4 of us going mental in eye of the north
truely, there are some absolutely mental missions in there - in particular the dungeons
some of those dungeons have brilliant rewards - one of them has 4 chests that drop after you kill bosses - each containing a green item, and the last one has an item to upgrade hero armor (which means they can go in your hall of monuments).
Duncan the Black - kill him and get a chest that gives you a hero armor upgrade, an onyx gemstone and another drop - either gold or green! Bickety Bam!

Competition - Margonite Masks

Hey all,
I would like to announce a new competition.

Who - I'm running it, and its for our Guild
What - Whoever has the most Margonite Masks wins - you get to keep the masks - no matter who wins.
When - Ending on May 31 - must post a screenshot by then
How - Farming - be honest and dont buy heaps just to win (I'm probably the only one of us who would actually do that anyways).
Why - Margonite Masks are dropped in some of the awesome LB/SS farming Locations - encouragement to get those titles cranked up. The best one can be found here - its hard mode, so we need to help mick finish the game to make it fair.

The Prize - 5k and a Chiggen's Shortbow and... the winner will become our inaugural bearer of the title - Collector of Stuff - man i wish there was a way for guilds to give titles to people.

I will be competing, and if I win, I keep the prize.
This competition is only open to members of Noobz With Attitude (NWA). If you have a problem with that, my uncle works for ArenaNet, so I'll get you kicked - lolz.

Thursday 24 April 2008

mixmaster ian in dalada uplands

so... im mixin it up a little
some missions, some LB farming, factions with you guys and probably the thing i do the most - ebon vanguard farming

tonight i cleared dalada uplands, which was nice, except that one boss didnt spawn
so basically i'm trying to get to 26,000 points, so i can buy this shweet armor, but i also need 50k, plus a little for materials.

so in about an hour and a half i went from
19,204 EV - 21, 822 - so im happy with that
also got 3k from everything i found - so i only need about 14k now to buy the armor

also - bonuses - +1 on my chests (now 145) and +1 on wisdom (now 111)
so, it was just one of those nights, eh, a bit of everythin

oh and if i havent said it alread - if you find superb charr carvings dont sell them at a merch - you get 30 gold there, but easily get 100g in trade - by easily, i havent once had to wait, i just say im selling them, or generally find someone wanting to buy them.

Wednesday 23 April 2008

everythings heavy underground

so...
i have 18/20 in elona
2 to go now
just the first 2 of the 3 in the realm of torment
i dont think they're too hard - the first is time consuming and the 2nd more about luck yeah??
anyways, help some time would be sweet - but i'm almost there!!!

Another feather in my 'cap'

Hey peeps so here it is...all a bit of anti climax for me...he was not difficult to kill in the end.

Jayne and Vera

So, Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) had a one-series wonder called Firefly on Fox in the US. The show did pretty poorly and was pulled after one season, though they did make a movie spin off - which was crap by the way.

Anyway, in the world of Guild Wars there is a little tribute to Firefly, with a boss named after one of the characters. The character is Jayne (a tough guy, mercenary type) who has a favorite gun called 'Vera'.

In their usual style the GW crew have developed a boss called Jayne Forestlight, who carries a hammer called, you guessed it - Vera. Very cool!

So, I was skill capping in Cantha, came across old Jayne Forestlight, capped the skill and picked up the very green, very cool 'Vera'. All up a very productive excursion.

Vera - the green hammer

Vera - the big gun

Saturday 12 April 2008

no one is touching this tarago!

just cranking away at my vanguard title track
really want to get up to level 5, so i can buy some sweet elite armour for xyla
we'll see - im still 40k away from that too...

Wednesday 9 April 2008

Sunday 6 April 2008

empathy builder: 9.134 files remaining

I'm sure you all know what i'm talking about!
This post is just something to do whilst loading in.
From what i recall - thre's the initial load, then a big one for each campaign and then again once you get into an explorable area - and then a smaller one for every explorable!

just messing round with my options wit the new set up - should be kickin!

Thursday 3 April 2008

new system on its way

so...
after my computer freaking out a little while ago and me being unable to sort out the situation - hard drive being cranky - i figured it was time for a new system
hopefully i'll do a video post when i get it, to show off some pretty specialnesses
we'll see

Monday 24 March 2008

Halfway!

Well, as you can see I am halfway to getting my Elite Skill Hunter title for Factions. Or, to put it another way, so far I have spent 60K and I'm about to spend another 60K. Hmm, its not so good when you look at it like that!

Maatu Keep - My Crib

In every campaign I try and find one town that I can go to that has everything I need in the one place. Basically I need a Merchant and a Storage Agent that are close to each other, as well as a Skill Merchant that sells Signets of Capture.

In the Factions Campaign this town is Maatu Keep. It has become my Crib, G.

Later!

Saturday 22 March 2008

got a bit done

ok...
so i did start some of those quests

i finished "the experimental weaponsmith" (you get the reward there)
and
"Melodic Gaki Flute"
and started
"the beak of darkness"

do experimental first, then you're right near the other 2 - dont just charge in though 3 lvl 28 assasins spawn - if one of you try and take them on it could get messy.

from there i did what you guys could probably run - head south (you'll need to go east first) to saint anjeka's shrine - just to open the map up.

i then went up to house zu heltzer (map travel) got the gaki flute reward and a new quest - "discord wallow lyre"
i then went back to saint anjeka's shrine, headed south and finished discord wallow lyre - and then got the reward and obtained the quest "rhythm drinker drum"

i now have 5,300 faction in kurzicks.

in short - i finished experimental weaponsmith, melodic gaki flute and discord wallow lyre, and progressed one step in the beak of darkness - that probably around an hours work - probably less.
enjoy

Wednesday 19 March 2008

my brilliant plan that has already failed

i had this plan...
cause i have band practice with church on tuesday nights now (til about 9), i was thinking i could do some of those quests and then you guys could start with the ones ive done...

oh well... maybe i can catch up some of them after you've done them?

Monday 10 March 2008

Friday 7 March 2008

Welcome back...

So, this message is mostly for Caine...just saying Welcome Back!!

So, Mick and Caine have new computers, and I have a new house and a new office... its about time we got back into this thing, I reckon.

So, Wednesday night is what its looking like. Get your stuff loaded (including Skype) and get ready to play.

Catch you next week!

Saturday 1 March 2008

Not just an Adam's Family Character

So...
How's Wednesday for everyone?

Out of Wed and Thur, Wed is better so I can go shopping every now and then with Karz and not have to cancel the night. Probably tape House and watch it another day
shweet?

Monday 18 February 2008

The Stamp is Back!!

That's right, The Stamp is back... with a vengence!! Didn't realise how much I had missed playing, but once I took ol' Stampy out for a run, it all came flooding back (except I'd forgotten a few menu shortcuts and also where I was up to).

So, anyway, let me know when you guys are good to go. Tuesday nights should be ok for me, except once a month I have a board meeting, so I might just be a bit late that night. Or another night if you would prefer?

At the moment I'm probably going to spend my time getting The Stamp out there a bit on the Cantha map, and also skill capping for Cantha, as it is the only area of the 3 that I have not finished. Also, there's Nathaniel the Judge to finish, and my Dervish could use some quality time. As well as all that I STILL have not made my way to EOTN yet, but I would like to finish the Factions Campaign before I do.

As much as I have a lot to do, its certainly more fun doing it with you guys... so leave a message and let me know when the Noobz ride again!!

Sunday 17 February 2008

wake me up when november ends

its been a long time between posts.
for the sake of nostalgia, and little more, i flicked thru the blog tonight and was sturck by how interesting november was.
It all fell apart in november.

I guess we had a number of things
1 - i chucked a big spack (which may or may not have been waranted)
2 - mick had reports
3 - assignments were due
4 - computers stopped working (due to the internet connections they were plugged into being ablaze - or was this december?)
5 - titles were achieved - some big ones from both copland and i.
6 - i dunno about you guys, but i was just a bit guild wared out.

so... having said all this i hopped on yesterday to notice the most recent person on was Dave - what an irony! I started thinking a little about new builds to get me pumped about playing again - and i think i may try to throw my paragon round to buff you warriors? anyways...

looking forward to getting back into tuesdays (i think it will be the best?)
thought of when to start would be great
