Running those Damn Scams!

Hey all,

This is just my first whinge about scammers. It took me three different 'runners' to get me to a place that excapes me at the moment.
The first guy says its 2k to get there and has three attempts at 'getting there' and couldnt and decides to leave the game ripping three other people off in the process (thanksfully i was not one of them).
The second person basically suckered people in including myself (i did not pay him thanks goodness) to believeing he could 'run it' and then once we began he too left the game with other peoples money!!!

Finally i came across someone who would only require payment half way along the journey. The two people who worked together were going well, until one of them dies and leave the other to do it alone as they 'had to go' (this time i had already paid 1k as we had passed halfway) i was nervous he too would die and not get us there. Finally he got us there and i paid my money after waiting 15-17 minutes for him to 'get there' . Then they had the hide to ask for 'tips' (must be american, who else would aks for tips in a Computer Game).

Very annoying very annoying. The main prob was i have to go back and scrape that rediculous area (about 10% worth of map) at some later point if i am to be a cartographer.

Damn those scammers, they have thwarted my increasing 'trust' of the GW community.

So be it, lesson leanr't, thank goodness not the hardest way of all, loosing precious precious money!!

Can i join in ?

Hey guys just was looking at out 'blog' and was wondering if/when we could update the photo to make it all 4 of us? Not a big deal, it would help give me the strength of "troll ungent" to continue on in my lonely faction world. (lol)
Let me know when we can hook it up with the 'resident photographer'.
Peace

time to get serious about the protector title

I figure that one of the best thing you guys can help me with is to get my Protector of Tyria title.

The way this will work out can actually help with some other things you all need, well in most part anyways...

I need to do the complete mission including the bonus for all 3 jungle missions. Caine, I figure you only have a few to do with Spartacus before getting up to them. We can help each other with this one. These ones are designed for level 16 - 18, so they'll be easy with me and my heroes. Caine I also need the bonuses for Divinty Coast (after D'Allessio seaboard and before jungle) and Sanctum Cay (just after jungle). I figure I can give you a hand getting all the way from Kryta to the desert if we can time it right (or find the time?)

I also need the last 2 southern shiverpeaks bonuses - Thunderhead and Iron Mines (which will help with skill caps for Mick and Copland) also I need the Ring of Fire Bonus (more caps).
So... they arent things all 4 of us will be involved in (unless you wanna help us get thru kryta and the jungle) but they are things I'd like to do with you guys, that I probably wont get thru by myself...
Cool... No rush... just a list to work thru.

quests, mini games, PvE only skills, new points based titles - like sunspear and lightbringer

just some of the things covered in the latest development update on GW:EN on good ol gamespot
thought you might like to check it out
sorry if you all check out the official website as much as i do and already have seen this. If you want me to stop posting this sort of stuff just put it in the comments and i will. I like to know this stuff... thats all

This week I want to...

Just starting a new label for a new set of posts...
I guess with our new format of basically running thru helping each other out with something, we can just whack it up here, in a post with that label...
Maybe give it a title with the date and character name, or something else obvious...

Are we doing stuff this week copland and caine? i dont mind either way... could do with a week off, or happy to do stuff just the 3 of us...
Not sure what I want to do next... working on a few different things at the moment, so I'll have a think...

Future conquests...

Guys it feels a bit like we've hit the wall. After a great start with the cims, we switched to the original characters and had a great time doing missions and bonuses. But we don't seem to have a common goal anymore.

Here's what I propose:

Before Tuesday, identify one area you would like us to help with. Maybe it's a mission you are having trouble with, maybe a skill you'd like to cap. Maybe even an area you'd like to scrape but can't get there without dying. Even though we might have already done that mission/capped that skill/scraped the area, we help out. I reckon that's what being in a guild is about- knowing someone's got your back if you are in a rut.

In my case, I'd like to progress fast through nightfall with Maisa so I can cap skills. I'd also like to open up more map in the shiverpeaks. If we can spend a bit of time (45-60 min??) helping me out the next time we are on that'd be great.

Caine would of course be included. Even if he can't join us, we can help him for a while if he needed us.

Of course I'm still happy to play with the cims for poops and giggles.

So... is there something you guys need help with?

pet army: on its way

so... for a bit of fun, i wanted to try and get pets for myself and all my heroes. Just to have the option of rocking around with a pet if i felt like it. In general some heroes probably shouldnt have pets, but who gives a "rats rectum" if its fun, its fun!
So... I figure, each hero shall have a different pet... hopefully...
At the moment its just underway...
Margrid the Sly: Jahai Rat Lvl 19
General Morghan: Moa Bird Lvl 15
Zenmai: Hyena Lvl 6
Xyla: Black Bear Lvl 6

It'd be cool if we all had a couple of pets so we could have a huge army to go round with... just a thought, if you're bored and feel like trying something different

When you're trying to control everything it gets a little hectic out there... Here we are doing a pretty standard Lightbringer Point run in the Mirror of Lyss

PvP

Hey boys,
I am about to creat my CIM character but i wasnt sure if it is supposed to be a role playing charactre or a PvP player? Let me know so i can attempt to get it upto level 20 before eye of the north. He shall be:

"CIM Throat Slitter" - Assasin/Elementalist

Let me know if this will fit the plans?

Brand the Bosses

I have submitted my name for the current 'Brand the Bosses' competition on the Guild Wars site. After much prayer and meditation the name I have decided to go with is...

IVOR THE SCRAPER.

It's topical and has a Nordic vibe. I predict Eye of the North will be very Viking-ish, so thats why I went with Ivor. The Scraper, is a salute to our guild and our love for discovering new terms...'55 Monk', 'BP Ranger", 'grape' and 'scraping', to name a few.

Get your names in and let us know what you decide to go with.

my favourite skill

been doing a little research tonight on builds involving me and 3 heroes, for a kickin use of fragility.
i will have to get some of the skills specifically for this excercise... but hey, its all part of the game.
my other option is to work out some creative way to equip 8 elites in the one skill bar. hmmm...
actually... there are some areas (like perdition rock), if you get blessed with good spawning you can actually cap 3 skills for each of your professions. So, you go in with 2 elites equipped, and 6 signets of capture, and bob's your uncle. Mind you... it only works if you dont have any of the skills already. sob sob
and yes, i've had a lapse in my recovery from nerdiness

titles: a lot can happen in two months

i was flicking thru some old posts this morning and found this one
wow!
Although titles are still a high priority for me, there seems to be some other important things too. The order has definately changed anyway! In order heres a current priority list for me

1. Lightbringer
I want to get high up in this title like nobodies business! really, it will make the game easier at the top levels of nightfall. It truly does. Its hard work though... and getting to the 50,000 to max it out may be a stretch (considering 1000 still seems a ways way off). I have my eye on Conquering Commander at the moment anyways... I havent unlocked hard mode in NF yet, so getting past that will be a fair way off!

2. Treasure Hunter
Oh... where did my bum go? that's ruight i worked it off, going for treasure hunter! To be honest though... once i get to 100 I'm going to slow down, and spend my money somewhere else... like...

3. Skill Hunter
As you all know, I've been working away at this bad boy for some time now... Its a long long long road! But the other good thing it helps me with is...

4. Heroes
Wanting to get all 15, max them out, give them good builds, and have them be a part of a solid set of team builds! Its a big job... but i love em!

5. Protector of Tyria
Just chipping away at this one when I feel like it. I find some of it a bit tedious at times... I imagine I will have this one done by the time GW:EN comes out.

6. Map Searcher
Yes... i intentionally name it wrong and leave no link, cause I suck at this one

Friday 8 June 2007

She will be mine...oh yes, she will be mine!

As you are all aware, the title I have been most seriously pursuing is the Tyrian Cartographer (Explorer) title. I have always thought that I'd get to about 80% and then bail on it, however, I have continued to sense the call to run, to explore new lands...to be free!

However, surely not 100%, I thought to myself, no one could really expect to get that (Grandmaster Cartographer). Then I read this on GuildWiki...

To gain the Grandmaster Cartographer title, a character does not need to explore every single point on the map. Some margin of error is allowed. As a result, even though some characters may never be able to access some portions of the map, they may still earn 100% explored. Unreachable zones would most likely be arenas that have been rendered inaccessible due to a game update (such as Fort Koga) or due to level limits (such as the Shing Jea Arena) but may also be training areas for characters local to the continent (such as Monastery Overlook which is only explorable for non-Canthan characters during the Dragon Festival and special weekend events). Again, these zones do count towards those who revealed them, but they do not make it impossible for those who cannot to obtain the grandmaster title.

Glory, hallelujah!!!

As I continued my search, I stumbled across this interesting fact...

Legendary Cartographer is a title, that you can display for prestige.
It is awarded per
character for completely exploring all three maps of Tyria, Cantha, and Elona.
"You have earned Legendary Cartographer, which is the highest rank within the Legendary Cartographer Title Track."

Now THAT sounds like a challenge. I guess its part of the awesome-ness of GW. Just when you think its all coming to an end, they up the stakes and raise the bar. So, I have committed to work towards this title of Legendary Cartographer (I don't recall ever seeing a player with it, though I'm sure there must be, obviously!). It'll take a lot of time and effort, but its something I really enjoy just chipping away at.

In case you are wondering, my current scores are:
Tyrian Explorer 80%
Elonian Explorer 20%
Canthan Explorer about 3%

Fire Islands

I'm pretty excited because in one night I finally capped barrage, I completed a hard mission with bonus first go (Thunderhead Keep) and I scored a massive range of gold items. I kind of wish I didn't give Ian those other gold items to identify... I've got gold identifying fever!
Also, I thought I'd waste report writing time by trying to find something to link. So for all you GW and Doom 2 fans, try this.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner!!!

Dunno about you guys, but I've been a little lost with looking for a decent build site.
So... yay... looks like GuildWiki has given us something!
Its a whole seperate site PvXwiki
I will whack a link up on the main page for this one too... i think its worth it!
finally - a reliable, easy to use build site!

housekeeping

hey... just a few things to do with housekeeping on the blog...

1. a couple of us (I was one of them) hit save now, instead of publish. I published those posts, so maybe have a flick thru the last month, i think mine was saved twice, but the other one was micks - the best things in life arent free. easy to do anyways... sorry if you didnt want me to post that yet, i imagine it was just an accident, so cleaned it up.

2. Labels. check out the labels and add one for your posts if thats ok. they are pretty simple to follow. I dont mind added some once a fortnight or whatever... its all good. We still have that post of yours copland with the label "." (a fullstop), not sure if thats intentional or not???
I'm getting the labels flowing, so as this thing grows its easier to navigate. And if... somewhaer along the line, others join??? dunno...? then they can easily get updated on a particular topic.

3. It would be cool if others throw some cool links up from time to time. I guess i do a little more general browsing at work... so whatever... do we want links... or not?

thats all for now...
